Massage
Every body is different. Every massage should be too.
Massage at Sum of Us is more than a standalone service. It sits within a studio grounded in physiotherapy -which means our therapists bring clinical understanding to every session – anatomy, load, and how the body responds to treatment.
Whether you’re managing a specific injury, carrying tension that won’t shift, recovering from surgery, or simply overdue for an hour to yourself – there’s a modality here that’s right for you. Our team will help you find it.
Types of Massage
Sports Massage
Targeted soft tissue work for people who train, compete, or move their bodies hard. Focused on recovery, performance, and keeping niggles from becoming injuries.
Remedial Massage
A therapeutic approach to muscular pain, postural issues, and restricted movement. Works into the underlying cause and supports lasting relief.
Deep Tissue Massage
Sustained pressure into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Well suited to chronic tension, long-standing tightness, and those who benefit from firm, focused work.
Relaxation Massage
Long, flowing strokes designed to calm the nervous system, ease muscle tension, and give your body genuine downtime. Sometimes that's exactly what's needed.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Gentle, rhythmic work that stimulates the lymphatic system — supporting recovery from surgery, reducing fluid retention, and helping the body process and eliminate more efficiently.
Dry Needling
Fine needle therapy targeting trigger points and muscular tension. Often used alongside other treatment as part of a broader physiotherapy or massage program.
Pregnancy Massage
Specifically designed for the demands of the pregnant body - addressing postural changes, muscular tension, and the general aches that come with growing a human. Safe, supportive, and deeply restorative at every stage of pregnancy.
Facial Massage
Targeted work through the muscles of the face, jaw, and neck - releasing tension held in areas we rarely think to address. Particularly useful for those carrying stress in the jaw, experiencing headaches, or simply wanting to feel more at ease.

Amazing remedial massage and treatment with Janelle!
Grace J - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wow! I had a fabulous experience at Sum of Us! First time visit for a gift voucher, and my 90 min pregnancy massage was 10/10! I was offered the pregnancy pillow allowing me to rest facing down for some of the session. Beautiful setting, room scent/setup, products used, and service from all staff members I met from the cafe and reception to the therapists. Would highly recommend you to book in for a visit! Plus lots of other offerings at this little gem on High Street.

Frequently Asked Questions About Massage
Will my private health insurance cover my massage?
Most extras policies include remedial massage. The amount claimable varies by fund and policy - so it's worth checking before your appointment. Our team can help with any questions when you book.
Can I combine massage with physiotherapy?
Absolutely - and for many people it makes sense to do so. Our physios and massage therapists work closely together, so if your situation calls for both, we can coordinate your care accordingly.
What should I wear or bring?
Nothing special - just yourself. You'll be appropriately draped throughout your session and your therapist will guide you through positioning.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes - our gift cards are available to purchase online or in studio, and can be used across any of our massage services. A thoughtful gift for anyone who could use some time to themselves. Just choose your value between $50 – $1,000. For physical gift cards please email sumofus@sumofusstudio.com.au.
What's the difference between myotherapy and massage?
Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy focused on the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It draws on a broader clinical skillset than massage alone — including dry needling, cupping, and corrective exercise — and is typically used for more complex or persistent conditions. Massage is generally more treatment-focused on soft tissue directly, and is well suited to recovery, tension relief, and general wellbeing. If you're unsure which is right for you, get in touch and we'll help you work it out.
What does a facial massage involve?
Facial massage works through the muscles of the face, jaw, scalp, and neck using gentle, targeted pressure. It's not a facial in the skincare sense - there are no products or extractions involved. The focus is entirely on releasing muscular tension, improving circulation, and leaving you feeling noticeably lighter through the head and neck.
Is pregnancy massage safe? How does it differ to a regular massage?
When performed by a therapist trained in prenatal massage, massage safe throughout pregnancy. Our therapists are experienced in working with pregnant clients and will adapt positioning and technique to suit your stage and comfort. If you have any specific concerns or a high-risk pregnancy, we'd recommend checking with your midwife or obstetrician beforehand.
