Breath, movement, and mindful recovery
Yoga at Sum of Us sits within a studio built around physiotherapy and movement – which shapes how we approach it. Our classes are grounded in traditional foundations but taught with a practical, modern lens. The focus is on how your body feels and functions, not how a pose looks.
Classes run in The Loft in small group sizes, with experienced yogis who cue clearly, offer modifications throughout, and bring genuine attention to every person in the room. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have a long-standing practice, you’ll find something here that works for you.
Who It's For
Yoga at Sum of Us suits all levels, from Vinyasa to Yin – our teachers meet you where you are and offer modifications for every pose. If you’re looking for a challenge, there’ll be opportunities to add layers to your practise. If you’re recovering from injury or managing a physical condition, let your teacher know before class and they’ll guide you through what’s appropriate.
Yoga also sits alongside our broader offering at Sum of Us – and for many people it works well in combination with Pilates, physiotherapy, or massage, depending on what your body needs at any given time.
What to Expect
Yoga classes are run in The Loft – a dedicated downstairs space separate from the main studio. Small class sizes mean your instructor can give real attention to how you’re moving, not just call out poses from the front of the room.
You’re welcome to bring a mat if you have one, but mats are also provided at the studio. Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Arrive a few minutes early if it’s your first class so your instructor can say hello before you start.

Yoga Styles at Sum
Restorative
A nurturing, slower-paced practice designed to awaken and lengthen the major muscle groups. Depth and complexity are gradually added to each posture - building an energising and strengthening sequence that works for complete beginners and those who simply prefer a more considered flow.
Vinyasa Flow
Movement linked with breath - dynamic, playful, and genuinely uplifting. Vinyasa builds heat, lifts the heart rate, and has a way of pulling you into a moving meditation before you realise it's happened. Sequences close with Savasana - a well-earned, reclined rest that feels exactly as good as it sounds.
Yin Yoga Meditation
Slower, deeper, and deliberately still. Supported by bolsters and blocks, yin postures target the connective tissues rather than the muscles - creating balanced joint health, greater flexibility, and a meaningful chance to unwind. Paired with meditation, it's an ideal practice for athletes, people carrying stress, or anyone who needs permission to slow down.
Stretch, Roll & Release
A structured full-body stretch class led by our yoga instructors. Using movement, rolling, and guided release techniques, this class takes your body through its full ranges of motion - leaving you feeling longer, looser, and genuinely restored.

What Our Yoga Students Are Saying
Highly recommend: While visiting from the states, I checked out this studio for the 2 weeks I was there and loved it. All the Pilates Reformer Instructors were great and truly enjoyed all the yoga classes with Jen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have done yoga before?
No - our classes (and teachers) welcome beginners. Modifications are available for every pose and your teacher will support you throughout.
Do I need to be flexible?
Not at all - flexibility is something built through practice, not a prerequisite for starting. Every posture has a modification, and our instructors will guide you through what's appropriate for your body on the day. Most people find they're more capable than they expect to be!
What's the difference between Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative?
Vinyasa is dynamic and breath-led - think flowing movement, building heat, and physical challenge. Restorative is slower flow style, with longer holds, deeper release, and a focus on stretching for recovery. On the other hand, yin involves the use of props to support the body in holds of at least three minutes per pose - allowing you to really drop in.
Can I do yoga if I'm injured?
Often yes, with appropriate modifications. Let your teacher know before class and they'll guide you through what's suitable and what to avoid for your specific injury. For more complex or recent injuries, we'd recommend a physiotherapy assessment first so we can advise properly.
What do I need to bring to class?
We provide mats and props, so all you need to bring is comfortable, stretchy clothing and a water bottle.
