Tools and treatments to help your body repair
Recovery isn’t an afterthought at Sum of Us – it’s built into how we think about movement and rehabilitation. Whether you’re training hard, managing an injury, or simply running on empty, the right recovery tools can make a meaningful difference to how you feel and how quickly you bounce back.
Our recovery offering combines hands-on therapy, modern recovery technology, and guided movement.
Find Your Treatment
Compression Boots
Normatec pneumatic compression therapy that helps flush fluid, reduce muscle soreness, and accelerate recovery between sessions. A favourite among athletes and anyone managing swelling or heavy training loads.
Red Light Therapy
Low-level red and near-infrared light used to support cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and ease muscle and joint pain. Non-invasive, relaxing, and backed by a growing body of evidence.
Dry Needling
Fine needle therapy targeting trigger points and muscular tension, often used alongside physiotherapy and massage to reduce tightness and support faster recovery.
Myotherapy
A clinical approach to musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction - combining soft tissue work, dry needling, cupping, and corrective exercise. Suited to persistent or complex presentations that need more than a single technique.
Massage
From sports and remedial work to lymphatic drainage and relaxation, our massage therapists support recovery across every stage - training, injury, surgery, and everyday tension.
Stretch, Roll & Release
A structured, full-body stretch class led by our yoga instructors. Using guided movement and release techniques, this class takes your body through its full ranges of motion - leaving you feeling lengthened, relaxed, and genuinely restored.

Contrast Therapy at Happy Melon
Recovery goes further with dual access to Happy Melon, our sister studio just up the road. Members with dual access can use the sauna and ice bath as part of their recovery routine – hot and cold therapy that pairs well with everything else on offer here, whether you’re easing muscle soreness, supporting circulation, or just want the kind of reset that comes from contrast therapy.
What Our Recovery Clients Are Saying
I had an excellent myotherapy session and left feeling significantly better both physically and mentally. The treatment was professional, thorough, and tailored to exactly what my body needed. I really appreciated the care taken, by Sophie, to explain what was causing the discomfort and how to manage it moving forward. Highly recommend for anyone needing effective treatment in a calm and welcoming environment.

Recovery FAQs
Do I need a referral for recovery treatments?
No referral needed for most recovery services - you can book directly. If you're working with a physiotherapist or treating practitioner, they may recommend a specific combination based on your goals.
Can I combine recovery treatments with physiotherapy or massage?
Yes, and many people do. Recovery technology like compression boots and red light therapy works well alongside hands-on treatment, and our team can help you build a combination that suits your situation.
Are these treatments covered by private health insurance?
This varies by treatment and provider. Myotherapy, dry needling, and massage are commonly claimable through extras policies; compression boots, red light therapy, and sauna or ice bath access typically aren't. Check with your fund if you're unsure, or ask our team when you book.
How often should I use recovery treatments like compression boots or red light therapy?
This depends on your training load and goals. Athletes in heavy training blocks often benefit from regular sessions - sometimes several times a week - while others use these treatments more occasionally, around periods of high demand or following injury.
What's dual access, and how do I get it with Happy Melon?
Dual access gives Sum of Us members entry to Happy Melon's offering as part of their membership, including sauna and ice bath facilities. Ask our team for details on how to add it to your membership.
I'm not an athlete, is recovery still relevant to me?
Absolutely, recovery isn't only for elite performance. Anyone managing pain, inflammation, poor sleep, or general fatigue can benefit from these treatments as part of a broader approach to feeling better.
